What is virtualization and what is it for? It´s a technique conceived to separate the programs operation of the machine physical components on which they are installed. The concept seems complicated, but it's easy to explain and understand.

For instance, imagine that you need a windows server to control access to users, another server for your email, and also a 3rd server for your accounting/billing/erp program. You would need to acquire 3 physical servers and each of them was using resources of less than 30%, with 3x plus electricity expenditure than just one server.

Therefore, a technique called virtualization was conceived allowing the 3 servers installation, coexisting on the same physical server but working independently, as if they were physically separated. With this, the use of resources is maximized, the power consumption is minimized (only one server) and the amount invested is considerably lower.
